New collection
NOT ALL SILVER-TONE STEEL IS ALIKE
Clio Blue has been creating 925 sterling silver jewelry since 1981. With its new collection, the house now also offers silver-plated steel jewelry: rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and long necklaces, designed with the same care as our silver pieces.
Where much steel jewelry keeps the dull gray tone of raw metal, ours is coated with a genuine layer of pure 999 silver.
OUR 4-STEP PROCESS
1. 304L OR 316L STEEL
A stainless steel base, hard and resistant to corrosion.
2. THREE UNDERLAYERS
Copper, tin and then zinc, applied by electroplating to prepare the surface.
3. PURE 999 SILVER
A layer of fine silver for the bright, luminous white of silver.
4. PROTECTIVE VARNISH
It protects the silver layer and limits tarnishing.
CARE AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is my jewelry solid silver?
No. A silver-plated steel piece is made of stainless steel coated with a layer of pure 999 silver and a protective varnish. A solid silver piece is 925 silver throughout: its product page says so.
How do I clean my silver-plated steel jewelry?
Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wearing it. Do not use an impregnated polishing cloth, silver cleaner or any abrasive product: they would damage the varnish and the silver layer.
Can I wear it in the shower or at the pool?
It is best to take it off before showering, swimming, sports or housework, and to avoid direct contact with perfume, creams and chlorinated water.
How should I store my jewelry?
Store each piece separately, in a pouch or a box, so that it does not rub against other pieces.
What is the difference between 304L and 316L steel?
They are two stainless steels widely used in jewelry. The “L” means they are low in carbon, which improves their resistance to corrosion. 316L also contains molybdenum, which makes it even more resistant.
