What does 750 gold, or 18-karat gold, mean?

750 gold contains 750 thousandths of pure gold, or three quarters of the alloy, the rest being other metals that give it strength. It is also called 18-karat gold, and it is exactly the same thing. Pure gold would be too soft for a piece you keep on your wrist or around your neck all day, the alloy makes it sturdier while keeping its warm color.

Which gold necklace should you choose?

The Mayu necklace, in 750 gold, weighs 1.7 grams, light enough to forget once it is fastened. A fine gold necklace is worn alone, at the neckline of an open shirt or over a crew-neck sweater. For a layered look, add a second, slightly longer chain, in gold or silver, and leave a few centimeters between the two so they do not tangle.

Which gold bracelet should you wear?

A fine bracelet slips on next to a watch or a bangle without getting in the way. The fish, a motif the house develops across an entire collection, also appears here on a bracelet. For a first piece in gold, a bracelet or a necklace is easier to choose than a ring, there is no finger size to guess.

Can you wear gold with silver?

Yes, and it is a simple way to start a gold collection. A gold necklace above a 925 sterling silver pendant, a gold bracelet next to a silver bangle, mixing the two colors gives a more relaxed look than a matching jewelry set. A single gold piece is often enough to warm up a set of silver jewelry. To complete the look, see our 925 sterling silver bracelets and our 925 sterling silver necklaces. To read a hallmark, the guide 925 sterling silver, what the hallmark says explains what the engraved numbers mean.

How do you care for 18-karat gold jewelry?

18-karat gold is barely affected by air and keeps its color, but it scratches more easily than you might think. Store each piece separately, in a compartment box or a pouch, so the chains do not tangle or rub against each other. Take it off for the pool, housework or sports, and wipe it with a soft cloth from time to time. For the silver jewelry you wear alongside it, the right steps are detailed in the silver care guide.

Is a piece of gold jewelry a good gift?

A piece of gold jewelry, light and discreet, makes a fine gift, for a birthday, a birth or a milestone you want to mark. It lasts a long time, goes with everything and suits a work outfit as well as an evening out.
