What does a Pompadour ring look like?
The Pompadour ring pairs a 925 sterling silver setting with a colored stone, often facet-cut. It comes in six stones, so you can choose the shade first. Wear it alone, on the index or middle finger so it shows, or next to a slim 925 sterling silver band. The facets catch the light without too much sparkle, which makes it easy to wear by day as well as in the evening.
Which stone should you choose for your Pompadour ring?
Black onyx gives the most graphic version, green onyx a clear, true green. Labradorite stays discreet, rose quartz brings a soft shade, blue chalcedony a pastel color, carnelian orange-red tones. For a first piece of colored jewelry, rose quartz and chalcedony go with almost any wardrobe. Black onyx and carnelian suit those who like contrast. For other stones, see our stone-set jewelry.
How do you match a ring, bracelet, necklace and earrings?
The Pompadour line includes about fifteen pieces, as many rings as bracelets, plus earrings and a necklace. Each of the six stones comes as both a ring and a bracelet, enough to create a matching pair in the shade of your choice. The bracelet, in carnelian as well as in green onyx, is an open 925 sterling silver design that slips on from the side of the wrist. To go further, the black onyx or rose quartz earrings complete the ring in the same stone, and the green onyx necklace joins the ring and bracelet in that color. For other sets, see our jewelry sets.
Which Pompadour ring size should you choose?
The ring comes in sizes 50 to 64, in steps of two, from slender fingers to fuller ones. A ring with a stone is worn slightly snugger than a slim band, so the stone stays upright on the finger. To size your finger, measure in the morning, at room temperature, then measure again on another day to confirm the size. If you are torn between two sizes, measure a ring you already wear with the ring size guide.
How do you care for a Pompadour piece?
925 sterling silver tarnishes gradually on contact with air and humidity. Take off your jewelry before showering, exercising or doing the dishes, put it on after perfume and cream, then store each piece separately so they do not scratch one another. A soft cloth is enough for the silver, the stone simply wipes clean. If the silver has darkened, a few passes of the cloth are usually enough to restore its shine. The full routine is in the silver care guide.
